Bottom Line Equipment Celebrates 16 Years!

7/26/21

Bottom Line Equipment recently celebrated 16 years of being in business!

Bottom Line Equipment was initially formed in 2005 as an entity to buy, sell and broker used equipment from our founder, Kurt Degueyter’s home in Lafayette, LA. He had a special message to share regarding this significant milestone:

Sixteen years ago, Bottom Line Equipment was formed and the journey began from our home in Lafayette, LA. Initially, our mission was to buy, sell, and broker used construction equipment, but The Man Upstairs had a different plan for Bottom Line. Just a month after the birth of Bottom Line, Katrina struck the Gulf Coast and our purpose changed overnight. We then knew we were meant to help the people of New Orleans and everyone affected along the Gulf Coast.

Funding the creation of a rental fleet and securing a physical operating location after a major disaster was our first challenge and we were able to overcome by sheer will and grit. Immediate capital came from a home equity line on our home, depletion of our life savings and securing loans from anyone willing to believe in our vision. Using every dollar we could find, we quickly acquired and then deployed equipment and attachments for the recovery efforts in the communities destroyed by Katrina. Building Better Communities became our driving purpose early on in our existence.

Fast forward to today, we are now one of the largest independent heavy equipment and specialty attachment rental companies in the country. We have been recognized as a Top Gun in financial performance by our peers and made the Inc 5000 fastest growing companies in the US for numerous years in a row. Our growth has also expanded our geographical footprint to include seven service centers along the Gulf Coast from St. Rose, LA to Corpus Christi, TX. A resounding question I am asked is, “How did you grow so fast and become a major player so quickly? Was it luck, being in the right place at the right time? Was it fortitude — willingness to risk everything you owned, including your home and savings with a young family of 4 children?” Well part of the answer is Faith and Perseverance as these values led to putting the right people in our lives at the right time.

Although all of the above played a part, the key to our rapid growth and success has always been, and will always be, our people. Happy Sweet Sixteen Birthday Bottom Line and Thank you to all that have helped nurture this great company as we have watched it grow.

As our journey continues, with our Vision for growth as a roadmap, I can’t help but wonder what our future celebrations will look like as our Team continues to Make It Happen. Spectacular Seventeen, Extraordinary Eighteen, Notable Nineteen, and Tremendous Twenty is what I believe our Bottom Line Team is capable of creating for our future!
